The event, hosted by the Brewers Association, has been held annually since 1996, and recognises over 111 categories of beer entries.

Let's take a look at 9 beers from Asia and Australia/New Zealand that the World Beer Cup thinks we should be crushing!

1. Doris' Jaguar from BREW CLASSIC (Japan) - Gold

This is a Belgian IPA (specifically the American-Belgo-Style) crafted using Motueka, Nelson Sauvin and Magnum hops with the secret addition of coriander seeds.

"I focused on balancing the characteristics of Belgian East and American hops, but I also wanted to create a style that brings the characteristics of hops closer together. It was Motueka who made me think so. I have been using this hop frequently since its first release, and every time I used it, I was fascinated by its aromas of tropical fruits and fresh citrus. And we want to create beer that allows Motueka to pop more freely.

First of all, based on the American-Belgo-Style, I made it as a Belgian IPA with a hoppy at Motueka. Aroma is Motueka's juicy tropical fruit and quite sweet. However, when you bring it to your mouth, it is crisp and refreshing, while the green apple and plum-like flavors of Belgian yeast and a slightly gentle bitterness envelop you. Doris Jaguar in a cheerful mood during the daytime on holidays."

"The ultimate expression of Wild Workshop’s inner city terroir. An artful blend of three years’ worth of 100% spontaneously fermented beer, brewed with New Zealand grown pilsner malt, raw wheat and hops, using traditional mashing techniques, an open coolship and extended ageing in oak. Complex and beautifully balanced, with tart fruit notes and a superbly dry finish - this beer is the result of three years’ hard work, and a little chance, luck and magic."

"YeongDeungPo-rter: A compound word of "Yeongdeungpo", where Beervana is located, and "Porter", a British black ale. It is a light, easy-to-drink dark beer. You can enjoy the savory roasty flavor and the aroma of coffee, and the sweet barley and bitter hops create a great balance, making it a beer that neither sweetness nor bitterness stand out too much. Coffee and chocolate, and the feeling of ambient caramel, nuts and biscuits are charming."

"This golden lager beer is produced in the image of Miyazaki’s sun-drenched climate. It’s brewed in the style of a traditional German pilsner, and features a refreshing, sharp flavor. To bring out the best flavor, the process creates a harmony of malt and hops to yield just the right amount of aroma and bitterness.  It is a genuine pilsner that has a commanding yet graceful taste."

"A full-fledged fruit beer type that features a pleasant sour taste of raspberries, a refreshing taste, and a gorgeous ruby liquid color. Malt and hops are mixed with raspberry juice and brewed with wine yeast. We were particular about the combination of ingredients, aiming for a jazz-like taste in which various parts show their individuality and harmonize.

By fermenting raspberry juice with malt and combining it with a variety of hops called “Galaxy” that you can enjoy a refreshing scent like passion fruit, and fermenting with wine yeast, it creates complexity and palatability along with fruitiness."

"An ale made with over 50% wheat germ. A masterpiece from this brewery, which overturns common perceptions of beer as sharp or smooth-drinking, featuring clove and ester flavors reminiscent of banana derived from our unconventional use of fresh yeast. The extremely fine foam created by the yeast itself lingers in the mouth with a silky smooth feel."
