Beloved Aberlour has launched a limited edition Sherry cask collection for its iconic A’Bunadh series. 

Led by Master Distiller Graeme Cruickshank, it aims to highlight how Sherry casks shape A’Bunadh's character.

Aberlour A'Bunadh Sherry Cask Collection Edition One, bottled at $56.2\%\text{ ABV}$, achieves its profile through a finish in two specific types of first-fill Sherry casks: Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez. 

The decision to bottle the whiskies at natural cask strength and leave them non-chill filtered ensures the preservation of the spirit's rich character, aroma, and mouthfeel, the brand says. Cruickshank also said the barrels were picked for their ‘quality, aromatic profile, and rich, nuanced characteristics’.

Edition One is touted to have aromas of red apples, blackberries, sultanas, caramel wafers, demerara sugar, cinnamon, and stem ginger. The palate is said to have notes of blackcurrant, spiced pears, vanilla toffee, sticky dates, raisins, oak spice, and star anise.

The new series will be offered alongside the existing core range expressions of A’Bunadh.

Aberlour A’Bunadh Sherry Cask Collection Edition One will be available with an MSRP of £95 (US$128) in select markets starting October.
