Archie Rose Unveils Cinnamon Smoked Cask As Third Expression In Experimental Smoked Cask Series

Australia's Archie Rose has announced the launch of the third entry in its experimental Smoked Cask Series: a limited-edition Australian whisky matured in barrels smoked with cinnamon.

Building on its wattleseed and juniper-smoked predecessor expressions, the distillery has said this expression utilizes a precise smoking technique that extracts the cinnamon’s essence without burning it, ensuring a nuanced infusion into the maturation casks.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Toasted cinnamon quill, jarrah, and vanilla, combined with charred banana, grapefruit, and jasmine blossoms. More time in the glass allows for sun-dried mango, chevril and roasted pistachios to come to the fore.

Taste: Subtle cinnamon smoke, roasted marshmallow and charred pineapple provide a mouth-coating, oily mouthfeel that opens into candied citrus, scotch finger biscuits and a pleasant warming sensation from the cinnamon.

Finish: The cinnamon heat provides great length and combines beautifully with tropical fruits, sweet spice and subtle smoke.

This four-part limited series, debuted earlier this year, utilizes various botanicals to define the unique profile of each release.

By replacing traditional peat with aromatic botanicals, Archie Rose redefines smoked whisky by offering enthusiasts four unique, layered interpretations of smoke that challenge conventional maturation styles.

Limited to just 495 bottles, Archie Rose Cinnamon Smoked Cask Single Malt Whisky is bottled at 51.9% ABV and is available now via the distillery’s website for AU$199.
