Award-winning Tequila produce La Pulga Spirits forays into the world of Mezcals with the release of its Agave Salmiana mezcal.
Also known as the "green giant", this Agave Varietal is known for its towering eight- to ten-foot height and 25-year maturation period, as well as its grassy, terroir-forward flavor.
This particular expression is said to include the flavors and aromas of green chili, citrus and olives.
La Pulga had previously announced that they planned to expand their line to include mezcal and sotol (Another distilled spirit made from the Desert Spoon plant). This mezcal is reportedly the first in a series of “Alebrijes” bottlings, whose designs also pay tribute to the eponymous folk art sculptures popularized in Oaxaca and Mexico City.
Sarah Castillo, one of La Pulga’s founders, says that the mezcal acts as a decidedly non-smoky alternative to the competition.
