Buffalo Trace Unveils New Historical Colonel E.H. Taylor Distiller's Council Bourbon Based On 19th Century Recipe

Using 19th-century equipment and techniques pioneered by Colonel E.H. Taylor at the original OFC Distillery (now Buffalo Trace), Buffalo Trace Distillery has crafted a limited-edition bourbon.
The Colonel E.H. Taylor Distiller's Council is essentially the closest modern interpretation of how the Colonel would have made whiskey!
The inspiration for this recreation dates back to 1996, when a group of distillery leaders, including former master distiller Elmer T. Lee, convened for what was known as the 'Distiller’s Council'. Through a chain of fortunate events, the convening of this council led to the rediscovery of E.H. Taylor’s pioneering techniques, notably a revival of his sour mash process.
E.H. Taylor, who acquired the OFC Distillery in 1869, was one who played a pivotal role in championing the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, ensuring whiskey standards.
The new expression is bottled at 50% ABV and has an MSRP of US$1,500. Distiller’s Council is the 14th release to bear Colonel EH Taylor’s name.
