Buffalo Trace's Old Charter Oak series that was created in 2018 to showcase the various effects of oak variations has on its Bourbon, is releasing its fifth experiment - Old Charter Spanish Oak.
This was created by aging bourbon in barrels created from outdoor seasoned Spanish oak staves harvested from forests in the north of Spain.
The new expression is described as “deep oak and dense caramel, followed by rich vanilla and an abundance of dark stone fruit, finishing with notes of toasted nuts and baking spice.” It is bottled at 46% ABV (92 Proof) and is priced at an RRP of US$69.99, available in the US from April 2023.
The Old Charter Oak series has previously released variations using Mongolian Oak, Canadian Oak, Chinkapin Oak and French Oak to age their Bourbon.
The series will continue to explore the impact of oak from various Countries, States, Species and Centuries.
