Chichibu Ichiro's Malt & Grain Visits the Netherlands With Launch of Exclusive Kintsugi and Delftsblauw Single Cask Blended Whiskies

European independent spirits company known for curating rare spirits releases, Salud Spirits, has unveiled a special limited edition set of two unique single cask blended whiskies from Chichibu Whisky's Ichiro’s Malt & Grain in a gift box that symbolises the meeting of two cultures and traditions: iconic Dutch Delft Blue pottery and the Japanese art of Kintsugi.
The set is completed by a specially designed Delftsblauw tile and patterned with gold lines, an homage to craftsmanship and tradition. Delftsblauw (also known as Delft Blue) is a traditional Dutch blue-and-white pottery style, originating in the city of Delft, which often features motifs of windmills and floral patterns.

The Delftsblauw Edition
Said to capture the refinement and elegance of Dutch heritage, the whisky has been matured for 1 year and 8 months (July 2023 to April 2025) in a second-fill bourbon cask and each bottle was filled at 61.8% ABV. Only 239 bottles are available worldwide, exclusively as part of this set.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Aromas of vanilla and caramel, framed by soft rose petals and a hint of powdered sugar. Subtle notes of warm poffertjes lend the whisky a cozy and inviting character.
Palate: A complex palate where gentle peppery notes combine with creamy nuances of panna cotta and crème brûlée. Fruity accents of strawberries and plum jam unfold, rounded off with a fresh hint of pinewood.
Finish: Medium in length, dry and tannic, yet balanced by a pleasant sweetness that rounds off its flavor.

The Kintsugi Edition
This expression is a single cask blended whisky, carefully matured for 1 year and 8 months in a second-fill bourbon barrel that previously held peated whisky. This unique aging process is said to impart a refined, subtly smoky character and a rich depth of flavor. Only 259 bottles are available as part of the set, each bottled at 60.8% ABV.
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Deep and expressive, with smoky nuances that mingle with aromas of dark fruit, freshly shaved wood, and warm spices.
Palate: A rich tasting experience of caramelized sugar and gentle smoke, combined with notes of stewed plums and earthy undertones that enhance its complexity.
Finish: Long and layered, with a gently fading spicy smokiness and a soft, elegant finish.
