Espolon's Flor de Oro Celebrates Dia de Los Muertos With Marigold Infused Reposado
Dia de Los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, is an important cultural festival to Mexico, and of course Espolon has to pay homage to that with a new marigold flower infused Reposado - the Espolon Flor de Oro (or Flower of Gold).
Marigold flowers are a key motif to the festival, and thus Espolon has taken its 2-month Reposado, aged in new American oak casks, and has infused it with natural marigold extract, which imparts a gold tint alongside floral and citrus aromas.
“When creating Flor de Oro, I was inspired by the moment that we placed an altar at Casa San Nicolás dedicated to our late founder, Master Distiller Cirilo Oropeza,... Drawing from the marigold petals and aromas of his favorite foods, we created an infused Reposado tequila that honors Cirilo and thanks him for his years of dedication to tequila-making.” says Master Distiller Jesus Susunaga Acosta.
The new Espolon Flor de Oro is priced at US$43.99.
