The Cristalino trend - the filtering of tequila through activated charcoal to remove color but also enhance the tequila's fruity and floral character - has been increasingly catching on, bringing to tequila an added filter if you will of high-end tequila expressions.

Casamigos, most famous for its association with actor George Clooney, is not getting in on the action, with a Casamigos Cristalino, the first new expression from the brand in five years. Casamigos has taken their most popular expression, the reposado and charcoal filtered it to create greater flavours of "cocoa and vanilla bean".

The new expression has begun being released in the US for an RRP of US$60.
