Get Ready For Some Knotty Behaviour With Ardbeg's Seasmoke Made With Seawater Mashed Spirit

There are many things you could say about Ardbeg, but at least one of them has to be that the good folks over there have an endless well of creativity to draw upon!

Don't believe us? Just get a look at Ardbeg's new Seasmoke!

The Ardbeg Seasmoke is said to be made with a seacret recipe that calls for "our first malt mashed with seawater, syphoned straight from Ardbeg's shore. Aromas of smoked lime and sea spray crash into notes of fennel and heather, before twisting around dark chocolate, clove and tarry rope."

And they aren't kidding!

Water we up to, you ask? Under the cover of darkness, the Distillery folk set out on a rebellious experiment to turn sea into smoke. Bucket by bucket, we tipped seawater straight from Ardbeg's shore into the mash tun. The result is Ardbeg's first seawater-mashed spirit.

A dram frothing with aromas of smoked lime and flinty minerality. On the palate, subtle saltiness flows into smoky espresso, cashew and bonfire embers. The finish ebbs long and smoky.

The new Ardbeg Seasmoke that will prove to be the distillery's first (would it be its last?) ever seawater-mashed spirit is set to be bottled at 50.8% ABV.
