Jamaica's Worthy Park, also the only single estate rum producer on the island, is flipping the script on Jamaican rum-making, a style that is today often made synonymous with high ester, often times funky, heavy rancio molasses based rums that tend to exhibit intense notes of banana, game meats and olive tapenades. It's distinctive, highly valued and incredibly unique.
Yet, Worthy Park is putting all of that aside to produce a cane juice based rum that it'll call the Worthy Park Jagricole - that is Jamaican Agricole. Yet, unlike its French-style Rhum Agricole peers, this will not be a repeat, with the Worthy Park Jagricole 100% copper pot distilled. This will make it a rare instance where a rum distillery not only plants its own sugarcane, ferments, distills, ages and bottles it entirely itself, but here it'll be the first of its kind from Jamaica. Now in all fairness, this shouldn't come as a total surprise given that Worthy Park has toyed with the idea and have produced several expressions for select private bottlings, and have also made a Worthy Park Overproof that is a blend of molasses and cane juice rums. Perhaps notable though, the Worthy Park Jagricole was also first teased on social media with an AI generation image on 1st April this year, which would make this an April Fool's that's turned into reality! Also interestingly for the rum geeks out there, despite its rarity of this style of production, the Worthy Park Jagricole is in fact fully compliant with the Jamaican Rum GI.

The new Worthy Park Jagricole will be bottled at 50% ABV.
