Macallan first released its "A Night On Earth In Scotland" expression to celebrate and tell the stories of the annual Hogmanay festival held annually on 31st December - the expression captures the universal joy of celebrating the change of year.
It's design is a collaboration with acclaimed Japanese-French illustrator Erica Dorn, whose artwork is most prominently featured in director Wes Anderson's films.
Erica Dorn's designs cover both the whisky and Wes Anderson's movies.
Hogmanay is Scotland's New Year's Eve celebration. featuring activities such as the "first footing", where it is "good luck for a dark-haired visitor to be the first person to cross the threshold of your home after the stroke of midnight."
The Macallan tells us that according to tradition, "the ‘first footer’ will carry three things: shortbread, whisky and coal for the fire. Each gift is designed to bring comfort and happiness to your home for the rest of the year. Shortbread is also a prominent flavour in the whisky."
It appears that Macallan is continuing with this seasonal release with "A Night On Earth The Journey", which will be bottled at 43% ABV. The new edition "is a journey around the world to celebrate the arrival of a new year".
It has been created with first-fill American ex-Bourbon barrels as well as European and American sherry-seasoned oak casks.
