The Macallan has unveiled two brand new expressions created in a unique collaboration with JING, curators of the some of the world’s most distinctive and fine single garden teas.

The Macallan Harmony Collection Inspired By Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea (Domestic) and Inspired By Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea (Global Travel Retail) will be the latest additions to its Harmony Collection.

Inspired by Jing's rare and aromatic Phoenix Honey Orchid tea, this whisky is a tribute to its muse. Crafted by The Macallan Whisky Mastery Team, it’s a complex and elegant spirit predominantly matured in Sherry-seasoned American oak casks, as well as Sherry Seasoned European oak and a subtle inclusion of ex-bourbon American Oak casks.

The result is said to be a warm, honey-hued whisky with notes of peach, apricot, floral honey, and tropical fruits, all complemented by sweet toffee and oak.

The latter expression draws inspiration from JING's Organic Cherrywood Lapsang tea, a modern take on Lapsang Souchong smoked delicately over cherrywood. The whisky is matured primarily in Sherry-seasoned European oak casks, with a complementary selection of American oak casks.

The resulting spirit is said to decadently reflect the tea's distinctive notes, offering a truly unique sensorial journey.

Additionally, the two whiskies are touted to sit at opposite ends of the flavor and colour spectrum, mirroring the diverse profiles of the JING teas that inspired them and challenging the expectations of what whisky and tea can be.

To celebrate the collaboration with JING, The Macallan has also created a unique whisky and tea pairing ritual. Inspired by the traditional Chinese Gong Fu tea ceremony, which celebrates the art of preparing and enjoying tea, this ritual highlights the shared values of terroir and tradition that connect single garden teas with single malt whisky. 

In line with the Harmony Collection's ethos of sustainability by using organic, repurposed materials in its packaging, the presentation boxes for both whiskies in this particular release are crafted from waste tea leaves. 

Each year, The Macallan Whisky Mastery Team draws inspiration from collaborations with world-renowned chefs, connoisseurs, and artists to create innovative and unique whiskies. The Harmony Collection has previously featured partnerships with notable names such as Cirque Du Soleil, the Roca Brothers, and Stella and Mary McCartney.

Inspired by Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea has an MSRP of SGD 252. For those who seek a fuller experience, the Harmony Bundle, featuring Harmony 3, 4, and 5, is available at SGD 698, exclusively at The Macallan House.
