Michter’s Distillery has unveiled the fifth edition of its rare Celebration Sour Mash, this time priced at an eye-watering MSRP of US$6,000.
The 2025 edition is the latest in a long line of expressions stretching back to 2013, with the last release in 2022.
The whiskey is a blend that hails from seven casks: four Kentucky straight rye barrels and three Kentucky straight Bourbon barrels. The youngest whiskey within remains more than 12 years old, and the oldest whiskey is over 30 years old.
The batch yielded 315 bottles, each coming in at a hefty 115.2 proof (57.6% ABV).
Master Distiller Dan McKee said: "It’s remarkable how the oldest barrels contribute just the right amount of oak influence while leaving room for the delicate nuances of the other beautiful ryes and Bourbons in the blend to shine.”
The Michter’s Celebration Sour Mash 2025 Edition is now available in the U.S. while stocks last. Each bottle comes in a gift box with a letter signed by master distiller McKee.
