Tequila-maker Nosotros is releasing what it claims to be the first Tequila aged in wet cider barrels.
The Los Angeles-based Tequila-maker gained popularity for collaborating with Tesla to produce its namesake Tequila housed in a lightning-shaped decanter.
The new Nosotros añejo aged limited expression was created in collaboration with Oregon craft brewery 2 Towns Ciderhouse.
The expression was created by using ex-Woodford Reserve whisky barrels to craft 2 Towns Ciderhouse's Bad Apple cider batch. The ex-Cider barrels were then moved to Mexico to age Nosotros' Blanco Tequila for 20 months using a single barrel ageing process. The process has created a Tequila that is "rich and smooth", with a "candied expression", with notes of "cooked agave and warm apple, along with spicy sandalwood and nutty almond scents".
A total of 1,500 individually numbered bottles will be released, at an RRP of US$325.
