Old Forester Releases Old Forester Triple Char, the First Whiskey From its Louisville distillery

Old Forester's new addition to its vaunted The 117 Series is also the first whiskey produced in its new Louisville distillery.

Old Forester Triple Char Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a limited-release expression aged in new American oak casks charred three times longer than standard barrels, delivering what the distillery promises will be a 'bold Bourbon with intensified oak character and layered complexity’.

The expression is said to have notes of pecans, baked apples, stone fruit, honeysuckle, leather, rich oak, cardamom, and cinnamon.

Opened in 2018 in Louisville, the 70,000-square-foot Old Forester Distillery serves as the home for Brown-Forman’s 117 Series — a lineup dedicated to experimental expressions and unconventional cask finishes.

Named after the distillery's historic address at 117 Main Street in Louisville, the series debuted in 2021 with Old Forester High Angels’ Share, a Bourbon drawn from barrels hit by unusually heavy evaporation.

Subsequent releases have pushed the experimental envelope further, featuring a still-proof expression and a rum-cask finish.

Bottled at 57.5% ABV, the expression has an MSRP of US$64.99 for each 375ml bottle, and is available now from the Old Forester Distillery on Louisville’s Main Street and selected retailers across Kentucky.
