To commemorate the Chinese Zodiac calendar which tells us that 2025 is the Year Of The Snake, Shanghai-born Peddlers Gin has made a new Snake Oil Gin!
And before you ask - Peddlers is quick to clarify, this is no snake oil! It takes inspiration from the famous Chinese Two-Eight Sauce which is bolstered by toasted sesame and roasted peanuts, and is commonly eaten with hotpot as well as dumplings and noodles. The name here is in reference to the old term "Snake Oil Seller", which referred to those who would peddle miracle potions.
Nevertheless the gin here combines the flavours of the Two-Eight Sauce along with Peddler's classic set of gin botanicals of juniper and Buddha's Hand citrus.
This is said to have created a bold and balanced spirit that lends a twist to classic cocktails, creating the same effect as a sesame-washed Martini or a peanut butter Negroni.
Peddlers new Snake Oil Gin is limited to just 1,888 bottles and is currently only available in China.
