The first set of releases include:

  • Rise I is matured in French oak barrels with flavors of cinnamon, rich creamy vanilla and buttered toast.
  • Chorus II is also matured in French oak barrels and has notes of citrus blossom, poached pears and elegant all spice.
  • Revenant III is made from laurel seeds smoked with Manuka. Aromas of warm, smoky embers await you on the nose, followed by mocha and dark chocolate
  • Timbre IV is aged in Bulgarian oak and has notes of baked apples, plum compote and vanilla biscuit.

“We have been quietly producing whiskey for the last six years and the team is finally ready to introduce Scapegrace single malt. Scapegrace will release a small number of rare, interesting, limited edition single malt products through 2024. Each edition is released in chronological order and together forms a unique collection of individually numbered bottles.”

- Daniel McLaughlin, Co-Founder of Scapegrace

To market the launch of their limited single malts, Scapegrace placed several billboards around the world, which were then photographed and timestamped from Central Otago, where Scapegrace is located. The series of photographs embodies the single malt being ahead of its time and heralded as a message from the future, as Central Otago's timezone means that it sees the sunrise before the rest of the world.

“The single malt journey has been part of the brand's strategic direction since inception, with a real focus on advancing the movement of New Zealand single malt whiskey on the global stage. With great ambitions to introduce New Zealand single malt to the world, we are delighted to release our first allotment of limited edition Scapegrace single malt.”

- Mark Neal, Co-founder of Scapegrace

Crafted on the other side of the world, in Central Otago, New Zealand, Scapegrace Whiskey sees the sunrise before the rest of the world - New World Whiskey from the future so to speak. Located in the mountainous landscape of Dunstan Lake, the distillery will over time produce its entire current portfolio of super-premium gin and vodka in Central Otago, providing Scapegrace with the perfect climate and water quality for whiskey production . The 45th parallel (halfway between the equator and the South Pole) runs right through the Scapegrace distillery grounds and offers year-round hot and cold temperature extremes - an optimal environment for whiskey aging.
