The Scotch Malt Whisky Society was founded in 1983 by Pip Hills, who aimed to revitalise the Scotch whisky industry by crafting malts with greater character, more cask influence, and a wider range of flavours. The Society has about 40,000 members worldwide in countries such as Scotland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and now Singapore.

SMWS bottles do not disclose the distilleries from which each whisky originates, instead, using unconventional bottle names and idiosyncratic tasting notes, to divert attention away from preconceived notions based on the distillery's ownership. That way, the emphasis is on the quality of the liquid.

Today, SMWS has collaborated with over 156 distilleries and employed various cask types and maturation techniques. SMWS has created more than 10,000 unique and one-of-a-kind whiskies, available exclusively to society members.

First Peek At SMWS Singapore's New Releases

Pssst... We've also heard through the grapevine that SMWS Singapore's lineup will include a highly coveted 33-year-old single malt called "Bonkers for Conkers" Society Cask No.  24.169, priced at S$6,500 and with an outturn of only 611 bottles. In the spirit of SMWS, we won't say what distillery this hails from apart from that it hails with Speyside with a SMWS distillery code 24...

If you know, you know! 😉

This rare bottling will soon be available on SMWS Singapore's official site.
