Campbeltown's own Springbank Distillery has now made available in the UK (and parts of Europe) the inaugural release of the new Springbank Vintage series.

The annual series will featured limited edition expressions that showcase some of Springbank's oldest whiskies. Each expression has enjoyed a generous maturation period and Springbank believes to demonstrate the impact of time on its spirit - in essence each bottle will deliver the familiar Springbank character with the deep influence of a range of casks.

The Springbank 1998 Vintage - the first of the series - has been aged in Sherry casks since 1998, and has been bottled at cask strength. Don't Springbank know just how to get the crowd going?

Official Tasting Notes

Aroma: Medjool dates, blackberries, white chocolate and caramel notes kick off this first edition in the Springbank Vintage series.

Taste: There is an earthiness initially on the palate, with notes of shortbread, brandy butter and cloves developing over time.

Finish: The finish brings notes of varnished wood, nutmeg and crystalised ginger.

What's even better is that Springbank has heard the groans of many a tantalising bottlings that folks feel they'll just never get to taste - and so, incredibly, Springbank is offering the new 1998 Vintage expression in the form of a sample sized bottling that will be part of a tasting pack that's now available via the Cadenhead shop (link here).

The Tasting Pack is priced at £40 (inclusive of VAT) and is limited to 2 packs per person, and will include the following samples:

Springbank 8 Year Old Local Barley 58.1%

Kilkerran 8 Year Old Cask Strength 55.6%
