The World’s Best Cream Liqueur is Tasmania’s Hellyers Road Whisky Cream

Hailing from Tasmania, Hellyers Road Distillery has a rich history intertwined with the island's dairy heritage. Established in 1997 by a dairy cooperative (itself founded in 1957 by a group of farming families), Hellyers Road continues to distill and age its whisky in the very same Burnie distillery where it all began. Their Hellyers Road single malt whiskies have garnered international acclaim, repeatedly earning the title of Australia's Best at the prestigious World Whiskies Awards.

But it doesn't stop at whisky. Lately, it has been their cream liqueur that’s stealing the spotlight.

Hellyers Road also crafts Tasmanian Whisky Cream Liqueur. In a fitting tribute to their dairy roots, Hellyers Road’s cream liqueur has just been crowned the World's Best Cream Liqueur at the World Liqueurs Awards 2024. The World Liqueur Awards are one of the most prestigious competitions for liqueurs globally.

Coming in at just 17% ABV and at a recommended retail price within Australia at A$44, the liqueur is crafted with freshest Tasmanian cream and Hellyers Road’s single malt whisky, and boasts a 2-year long shelf life without refrigeration. The brand suggests several ways of enjoying it, whether neat, as a decadent addition to coffee, or simply on the rocks. And for those with a sweet tooth, it’s said to work wonders drizzled over vanilla ice cream or as a finishing touch on classic desserts like Pavlova or Eton mess.

“Hellyers Road Tasmanian Whisky Cream represents everything about who we are as makers in North West Tasmania. Most liqueurs do not contain fresh cream as it is quite difficult to do so. Our heritage in dairy and whisky distilling places us uniquely to overcome these challenges,” says Derek Charge, CEO of Hellyers Road. Derek added: “We have always known that Hellyers Road Tasmanian Whisky Cream liqueur was something very special and are immensely proud to have it recognised as the World’s Best Cream Liqueur at the World Liqueur Awards.”

This win also makes Hellyers Road the first Australian brand to be crowned World’s Best Cream at the World Liqueur Awards.
