Rum Reviews

Caroni 1998, 23 Years Old, Bellamy's Reserve Rum

This was a rather impressive 1998 Caroni from @bellamysreserverum that I had at @15stamfordbar which has gone somewhat unnoticed. As a single cask Caroni, the back label states intriguingly that it had been aged in ex-bourbon, malt whisky, and rum casks, which sounds rather quite a lot of work.

Other than that, we do know this was bottled in September 2021, and was stock from Main Rum Company, given its TMCG marque. In terms of its nose and flavour, I was quite happy with how delicate and balanced it was, not too heavy nor was it petroleum/tar-forward, but instead a nice mix of red fruits, a decent amount of dirtiness, and of course cola and caramel, which for me forms the backbone of any good balanced Caroni rum.

Thank you @edsherwynlim12 too for a delicious daiquiri made with @providencerum’s Dunder and Syrup!
