Overall - First time trying a YukioToko junmai-shu primarily because I like the snowman picture on the label. First nose of the sake and I am greeted with fragrance of steam rice with some hint of 🍌 skin smell. Being a typical Niigata style sake, the taste is light and crisp and trending on the medium dry scale. The light taste and medium body makes it not too heavy on the palate and matches perfectly with the level of umaminess. The medium length also helps to enhance the aftertaste of the sake and embodied the back of my throat with the sake. Being a Junmai shu, this sake needs to be paired with strong flavor food especially meat dishes or dishes with lots of spice like a spicy hotpot. I paired it with curry katsu 🍚 and black pepper sirloin steak. The sake helps to smoothen the strong flavor of the food but at the same time causing an explosion of flavors in my mouth. A simple and straightforward sake with not too much surprises.

Overall, this is a good sake.
