Club Street Laundry & Hup San Social Club Now Open on Ann Siang Hill

Nestled at the vibrant crossroads of Club Street and Ann Siang Hill, Club Street Laundry and Hup San Social Club breathe new life into a storied locale rich in Singaporean heritage. Under the leadership of Chef Justin Hammond, Beverage Director June Baek and Director of Operations & Communications Donna-Mae de Cruz, these exciting new establishments serve as a love letter to the immigrants who made this enclave their home, offering a unique blend of history, community, and modern dining.

Club Street Laundry

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Club Street was a hub for Chinese social clubs, such as the Kee Lam Club and the Ee Hoe Hean Club. These clubs served as gathering places for pioneers who came together to support one another and celebrate their heritage. Today, Club Street Laundry aspires to rekindle that spirit of unity, offering a gathering space for Singapore’s diverse "second-generation" immigrants from around the world. The venue is a place for people to come together, create new traditions, and share in the spirit of community that has defined this area for generations.

Located on the ground floor at 98 Club Street, Club Street Laundry reimagines Australian cuisine while paying homage to the building’s historical roots as the Hup San Laundry. The venue seamlessly blends tradition with contemporary flair, creating an inviting atmosphere for all. The open-concept space offers a panoramic view of the charming shophouses lining both Club Street and Ann Siang Hill, immersing guests in the heart of Singapore’s historic charm.

Club Street Laundry is open from morning through evening, offering a cosy café ambience by day and a vibrant social scene by night. It’s a place where history and present day converge, creating a unique social and dining experience that celebrates the diverse immigrant heritage that defines Singapore.

Chef Justin Hammond’s menu at Club Street Laundry is a true reflection of modern Australian cuisine, infused with flavours from his global travels. Blending honest Australian cooking with bold spices and delicate techniques, the menu offers diners an exploration of diverse cultures, celebrating both innovation and heritage. Each dish is a journey that invites guests to savour the world with every bite, showcasing the global inspirations and Aussie pride that shape Justin's culinary philosophy. The dining menu is accompanied by a diverse international wine list featuring bold and eclectic bottles curated to pair with the cuisine.

A celebrated figure in the culinary world, Chef Justin is known for his work leading award-winning restaurants across Asia and beyond, most recently at Neon Pigeon and Underdog Inn, where he explored whole-animal butchery, fermentation, and live-fire cooking.

The name "Hup San" (和生)meaning "Harmony Life," reflects the mission of the space: to create a welcoming haven for the community. By embracing the building's original name, Club Street Laundry honours the legacy of early Chinese immigrants who once gathered in this area, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie that is as relevant today as it was in the past.
