Glen Moray Elgin Classic Peated Single Malt, 40% abv.

Glen Moray Elgin Classic Peated Single Malt, 40% abv.

The peated version of Glen Elgin's entry level product line. Supposedly peated to 30 ppm.

Nose: major green grapes, some lemon zest, freah cut grass, very light peat, a light fruity smoke.

Palate: weak body, relatively smooth, a little bit of new car leather, dull apples on the mid palate, back palate has some wood and light peat. Boring.

Finish: short, bitter fruit, light leather.

Nothing going on here to be honest, it is extremely unfocused and seems very lost on the flavor profile. I feel these small distilleries are soooooo lost and the reason is they make weird whisky like this one... they seriously need to take their craft more seriously or buy time by blending their product away, which I think they do actually.

Grade: C-
