Nose: toast/vanilla, some grapes. Straightforward and simple.
Palate: sweet, a type of wasabi spice up front and on the mid palate, a faint wood on the back palate, overall sweet and spicey. Not the most direct sherry bombing, but similar.
Finish: dry, moderate, grape popsicle on the tongue, wood and honey on the mouth.
Much better than the current, and darker, Glenfarclas core product line, a more balanced sweetness that incorporates some more solid spice flavors. Quite delicious. Although a little one dimensional, it does the sherry bomb thing toooooooo well. I think this bottling should be the base to compare other sherried GFs. Although these Glenfarclas Family Casks are super delicious and crazy sherry bombs... they cannot compare to the Karuizawa I had later that night.
