Karuizawa 32, bottled for Shinanoya, Sherry Cask No. 4380, 118 bottles, 55.4% abv.
Nose: a sherry with toast, boiled purple grape juice, biscuits, some vanilla, some chocolate.
Palate: intense! Complex! Smooth, major sharp raisins and a variety of purple fruits, a bouquet of pastries, french cakes, good amount of chocolate, backseat of coconut, pineapples, vanilla.
Finish: short. Other than that not much.
Dry glass: strong and lasting wax and dried fruits.
Damn... what an amazing whisky! Flavors were intense, impactful, and various. This variety and delivery make it in my opinion quite complex as there is so much going on so quickly. These older sherried Karuizawa are amazing! I am goddamn smiling now.
Note that these tasting notes were written in April, 2018 and yes I was smiling.
