These vintage White Horse are a little difficult to date and yes, dating is important because it not only quenches the fan's thirst for knowledge, but also helps narrow down the scope of the liquid contents, helps set standards for expectations, and provides history. So after looking at numerous White Horse bottlings and googling White Horse bottle dates over the past 6 months, I think this bottling is from the late 1940's to 1950's. The reasoning is White Horse sequentially numbers their bottles which allows me to compare against other AS and AW bottlings which experts and auction houses date to the 1940's and 1950's. Additionally, the spring cap, the "Royal Warrant: By Appointment To His Majesty The King" makes it before 1952. Also, the bar owner said it was from the 1950's. Supposedly White Horse from that time contained Lagavulin and Talisker, and others of course.

Nose: strong peat, light bbq briquette smoke, light red and green grapes, candlewax, hints of a variety of fruits at the end.

Palate: amazingly smooth, a delicious wood, not too oaky, not too strong, no steamed lotus leaves. Simply delicious.

Finish: short, clean.

This is a beautiful whisky. Tasty and extremely smooth. Nothing less from these vintage White Horses. Wished they had better sources for dating these amazing blends.
