This bitter cocktail was created in 2009 by Toby Maloney at Violet Hour in Chicago. It was named after “the most bitter character in literature.”

1/2oz GIN (@hendricksgin)
1/4oz CYNAR (@cynarusa)
1/4oz FERNET BRANCA (@fernetbranca)
1 dash ANGOSTURA BITTERS (@angosturahouse)
1 dash ORANGE BITTERS

•Combine ingredients and stir
•Strain into chilled coupe
•Garnish with orange peel
