Glenglassaugh was reawakened in 2008 after more than two decades of silence. Shortly after restarting production, the distillery was acquired by BenRiach Distillery in hopes of spurring a revitalisation in the Highland distillery.

The distillery continues to operate in small batches, with whiskies handcrafted and matured in its coastal warehouses.

Glenglassaugh's Evolution was crafted using ex-Tennessee first-fill whisky barrels.
