These are the Internationally Best-Ranked Bars in Singapore

It's no secret that Singapore is home to a diverse bustling scene of passion-fueled award-winning bars. This certainly does not go unnoticed - with 8 Singaporean bars making the international top 100 list of the World's 50 Best Ranked, and 5 in Singapore alone that earned their ranks in the top 50 Best!

By the looks of their dedication to their craft, creative concepts, and palpable passion, it's no surprise that these bars made their mark internationally amongst the world's best. Here are the well-deserved winners that made the list of the top 100 internationally, ranked!

#81: Barbary Coast

Barbary Coast is located within Boat Quay, paying homage to its namesake, Barbary Coast in San Francisco. The bar is home to two concepts - Deadfall and Ballroom, each with their own rich narrative and immersive storytelling experience.

Deadfall is a concept based on the eponymous drinking holes that thrived in San Francisco during the California Gold Rush era in the mid 1800’s. These were rough and ready, cheap and cheerful, where all were welcome and anything goes.

Plush and opulent, Barbary Coast Ballroom is based on the Ballrooms of San Francisco's yesteryear. Gone are the madams who use to run these fine establishments but we have kept the cacophony of wallpaper and aim to push flavours and experiences to the next level.

#71: 28 Hong Kong Street

Hidden behind an unassuming 1960’s shophouse façade, 28 Hong Kong Street is a word-of-mouth venue for people who might appreciate the kind of venue that we enjoy ourselves: relaxing at the beginning, growing a tad louder as the night goes on. The drinks focus' is on artisanal spirits and American-style craft cocktails. The food is gussied up American comfort food made from scratch for sharing.

#63: Sago House

Born during the 2020 lockdown in Singapore, Sago House was set up by three industry veterans, Desiree Jane Silva (ex-28 HongKong Street and EC Proof), Jay Gray and George Abishek (Spiffy Dapper, among other venues) as a true labour of love. The interior was built almost entirely by hand, with 80% formed out of upcycled materials. While the pandemic delayed the opening, the team still managed to deliver a good number of bottled cocktails. Since 2021, customers can go to see the fantastic mural by Distort Monsters, a local Filipino artist, as well as try the latest drinks on any day of the week. The menu always features six classic styles of cocktails, but the actual drinks will vary on a weekly basis according to ingredients available in local markets. A recent favourite, Blackcurrant Affairs, comprises tequila, Caribbean pineapple, blackcurrant, Amaro Montenegro and prosecco. Add the tasty steak sandwich if you’re peckish, which rewards the three-flight stair climb to find the bar.

#26: No Sleep Club

Top-notch drinks, great food, cool vibes, a stellar team – No Sleep Club has it all. From its beginnings as a tiny pop-up on Singapore’s Club Street to its current location on the ever-bustling Keong Saik Road, the bar has gone from strength to strength. After winning the Campari One To Watch Award in 2020, it followed up with the Disaronno Highest New Entry Award in 2021 and now consolidates its position in the top 20 of Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022. This success is hardly surprising when you consider that it’s owned by Juan Yi Jun, who ran the show at Operation Dagger, and Jessica ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson, the front-of-house doyenne formerly of 28 HongKong Street as well as EC Proof.

The all-day concept welcomes guests for coffee, snacks, one of the best tequila-based Espresso Martinis around as well as a banging Reverse Harvard. Add some of the fried prawns, the Wagyu tartare and perhaps peruse the well-curated wine list if you are so inclined, or join the team for the very popular Sunday roast. Either way, make sure to book and a good time is guaranteed.
