Luxury tequila brand is once again paying tribute to Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) with the launch of the Clase Azul Tequila Día de Muertos Edición Limitada Aromas, a limited edition tequila inspired by the aromas of the festival. 

Specifically, the limited edition expression is said to capture the sharp, herbal essense of cempasúchil blossoms, a flower that is central to Día de Muertos celebrations.

This new expression features a decanter sporting illustrations of the cempasúchil blossoms, created by Mexican artist Jimena Estíbaliz. It will also include a 24-karat-gold ornament that was handmade at the Milagros de Laton workshop by Mexican artisans. 

To make this expression, the tequila was aged for 25-months, first in American whiskey casks being a round of finishing in Armagnac casks. It will be bottled at 40% ABV. Master distiller Viridiana Tinoco explained: 

"For this release, I selected casks which had previously contained Armagnac, a spirit with controlled designation of origin and the oldest in France.

“These casks’ unique character results from their provenance, Bas-Armagnac, where grapes grown in siliceous-clay soil end up imparting fine and complex fruit notes to the spirit.

“I opted for this kind of cask because Armagnac is a product that aligns with the values of Clase Azul México; its small-scale production reflects the history and heritage of the region where it’s produced and ensures the transmission of ancestral knowledge and traditions."

This new expressions marks the third release under the Nuestros Recuerdos series dedicated to celebrating Dia de Muertos. The first two release, Sabores in 2021 and Colores in 2022, paid tribute to the flavors and colours of the annual festival respectively.

The Clase Azul Tequila Día de Muertos Edición Limitada Aromas will be available at an RRP of US$1,450 from 20 October at the brand's boutiques in Los Cabos Mexico.
