Diageo has announced that it will acquire Texas-based Balcones Distilling for an undisclosed sum.

Balcones' American single malt whiskey range includes the Texas "1" American Single Malt, Lineage American Single Malt, and Baby Blue Corn Whisky.

The acquisition comes on the back of a spate of acquisitions by spirits giants, including Campari's acquisition of American whiskymaker Wilderness Trail.
