El Dorado's Last Casks Collection Featuring Two Diamonds And A Port Mourant

 

Guyana's famed rum producer El Dorado is out with a new set of releases named "The Last Casks" collection, featuring a trio of 1998 Diamond, 1998 Port Mourant Enmore, and a 2000 Diamond Uitvlugt.

1998 Diamond Coffey Tri Canada, 24 Years Old

This expression is a blend of molasses-based rums from Diamond Distillers, distilled in 1998 by late Master Distiller George Robinson, aged tropically for 24 years and bottled in 2022. It is bottled at 49.1% ABV and priced at 319 EUR (or US$344).

Aroma

A brilliant blend of honey, almond, orange and banana aromas that are specific to these metal stills.

Taste

A lingering aftertaste of licorice and dark chocolate with a hint of green apples and rich notes of dried fruit.

 

1998 Port Mourant Enmore Tri Canada, 24 Years Old

A blend of Port Mourant and Enmore that has been aged for 24 years tropically in Guyana in ex-Bourbon barrels. This has been bottled at 50.3% ABV and priced at 319 EUR (or US$344).

 

 

Official Tasting Notes

Aroma

Smoky and earthy aroma of dried fruits such as raisins and prunes, sweet spices such as cinnamon and vanilla with deep aromas of almonds and noble woods.

Taste

Tasty and dry with sweet notes of orange peel, honey, caramel and dark chocolate.

 

2000 Diamond Coffey Uitvlugt, 22 Years Old

This expression has been aged for a year before being transferred to ex-Bourbon barrels at the Uitvlugt Distillery to age for 22 years tropically. It is bottled at 54.4% ABV and priced at 289 EUR (or US$312).

Aroma

Honey, caramel, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg with a touch of liquorice, walnuts and hazelnuts.

Taste

Sweet notes of rich molasses, honey, caramel, vanilla and nutmeg, with a long finish.
