Fancy Mermaid Spotting With Glen Scotia - New Icons of Campbeltown Series

Campbeltown - a once prolific Scotch producing region, now the smallest - and yet a constant reminder that it is a matter of quality over quantity, as they are responsible for producing some incredible Scotch whiskies.

It appears that Glen Scotia, one of only three distilleries in the region, is paying its tribute to its local lores with a new Icons of Campbeltown series that celebrates the distillery's Campbeltown Market Cross and its local community.

The first release of the series - a 12 Year Old Unpeated Palo Cortado Cask Finish named The Mermaid - was aged for most of its life in ex-Bourbon barrels before an 8 month finish in Palo Cortado sherry casks, which the distillery calls "a rare choice of wood almost as special as mermaids".

Consequently, we can expect a "sweet and nutty" whisky with "subtle maritime nuances, bracing Atlantic sea breeze notes on the nose, and a signature Glen Scotia saltiness on the palate".

The new Campbeltown Single Malt is bottled at 54.1% ABV.
