Between You And I: Highland Park Collaborates With Artist Laila Gohar For A Pair Of 17 Year Old Expressions

For the second edition of Highland Park's Between You and I collaboration series, the distillery has partnered with New York-based Egyptian artist Laila Gohar to present two limited-edition 17 Year Old whiskies.

The expressions were developed by Master Whisky Maker Marc Watson and subsequently presented to artist Laila Gohar for sensory evaluation.

Gohar translated her tasting notes, said to be rooted in personal memories and evocative flavor associations into custom graphic illustrations that were then integrated into the packaging design.

Gohar is renowned for her distinct sculptural installations that blur the line between gastronomy and conceptual art. Combining surrealism, humor, and nostalgia, her work transforms culinary elements into immersive visual experiences.

Between You and I by Laila Gohar was formed after Highland Park Master Whisky Maker Marc Watson sampled from more than 80 casks, inspired by Laila, her work and her Egyptian heritage.

Led by new American oak casks, the whisky is a take on the classic taste of Highland Park, promising notes of fruit, spice, leather, orange blossom and creamy vanilla.

The Between You and I: Journeys by Laila Gohar is another single malt that is said to blend the vanilla flavours of ex-bourbon casks and the rich, chocolatey notes of sherry-seasoned casks with new Spanish oak that boasts notes of cinnamon, warmth,  smoke, tannins and spices.

The latter expression will be available exclusively from Travel Retail and duty-free outlets.
