Macallan Releases Latest Addition to Its Distil Your World Series With Hong Kong Themed Whisky

Macallan is coming back to town with a latest addition to its Distil Your World series!
This time the latest release, 'Reimagining Spaces,' explores Hong Kong's continuous evolution as a city shaped by its heritage, yet driven by progress.
For this limited edition, the brand paired with the renowned Roca brothers of El Celler de Can Roca, twice named the World’s Best Restaurant. With the brothers, Macallan's Lead Whisky Maker Euan Kennedy explored Hong Kong city in an attempt to capture the sensory spirit of the city (an attempt that succeeded, clearly).
Selected Sherry-seasoned European oak hogsheads lend the spirit a naturally dark tint with a foundation of dried spices, notably ginger and cinnamon. It is said to be reminiscent of Hong Kong's lively market aromas, while the cask influence reportedly pays homage to the city's dynamic character with a multi-dimensional flavor profile.

Macallan tells us that the nose possesses a rich, resinous sweetness intertwined with ginger and spices, with all this balanced by fragrant honey, antique oak and tropical influences such as pomelo and mango, reminiscent of Hong Kong style egg tart.
On the palate, it is said to deliver a mouthcoating viscosity paired with bright tropical sweetness, ginger and rounded spices that give way to aged oak, grapefruit and an umami-like depth. The finish also has lingering notes of vibrant, antique oak.
The Roca brothers have also crafted a menu drawing inspiration from Hong Kong’s dynamic landscape and cultural heritage to pair with the whisky.

The menu is laden with ingredients and themes that reflect Hong Kong, featuring a Yum cha aperitif, a Casa Cacao blend tea, Rose Ha Gau (Prawn paste), scallop and sea urchin Cheung Fun (Rice roll), and truffle cha siu bao.
The main courses begin with a sensory transportation to the Temple Night Market with sweet and sour vegetables, followed by prawn roe mousse, steamed abalone, cabbage, and seaweed inspired by Hong Kong's Geological Park, accompanied by a unique duck and milk tea mooncake.
The experience concludes with a dessert inspired by Hong Kong’s iconic skyline!
To top it all off, the release is accompanied by 'Reimagining Spaces,' a film documenting Euan Kennedy and Joan Roca's sensory exploration of Hong Kong, so you can follow along with them as they become inspired by the city.
From April 1st, the fourth release in The Macallan’s Distil Your World retails at The Macallan House Singapore for SGD$6,500 apiece!
