New Grove distillery is making history with the launch of Inception, it's new 21 Year Old expression and Mauritius's oldest rum to date.

Inception 21 Year Old began aging in 2004, just shortly after legal distillation returned to Mauritius in the early 2000s, after the century-long Prohibition was lifted in the country. Made from molasses and column-distilled, this rum was aged in two separate barrels, one French Limousin oak and one ex-Cognac. These two barrels were then married to create the expression. 

The rum is said to have aromas of caramelised sugar, fresh molasses, yellow fruits, sweet spices, wood and dried fruits. On the palate boasts notes of orchard fruits, citrus peel, yellow peach, fresh apricot, prunes, and sweet spices.

The expression is bottled at 50% ABV and will make its official debut at Whisky Live Paris from 27-29 September 2025.
