Macallan is ready to kick the new year off with a hyper aged 73 Year Old expression, due to be bottled in 2024.

The new Speyside Scotch expression will be bottled at 44.9% ABV, and follows in a line of established distilleries flexing their hyper aged stocks, demonstrating cask management and also just realistically, something that the spate of new and younger distilleries simply don't got over them.

Tasting Notes

"The nose is effervescent and intricate with a medley of antique oak, apricot jam, fine liquorice and treacle tart. Soft baked apple, nutmeg and tropical notes add to the overall complexity. A sweetness coats the mouth, with dates, sweet woodsmoke, bittersweet treacle toffee and a hint of aromatic leafiness which then leads to a fruitiness and salinity reminiscent of a fine Palo Cortado. Soft tannins, subtle spice and a continued minerality elongates the finish."
