Italian organic gin brand Engine Gin is launching an exclusive, limited edition gin expression aged in casks that used to store Caroni rum, a renowned ghost distillery nestled on the island of Trinidad since 1918. 

Caroni's doors were shuttered in 2001, and since then, the barrels containing this exceptional rum have been laid dormant hidden away from the world’s gaze. In 2004, the distillery was rediscovered and its rum rescued, alongside with the barrels!

Engine Gin is now finishing some of its flagship Alta Langa gins in the very same Caroni casks, in order to impart added depth of flavour and complexity. Designed to be a premium extension of Engine Gin's existing gin line, the Caroni Gin will be uniquely bottled in a glass bottle, departing from Engine Gin's classical "oil can" designs. 

This expression was borne from a collaboration between Paolo Dalla Mora, CEO and Founder of Engine and the President of Velier, Luca Gargano that discovered the legendary distillery Caroni of Trinidad, closed since 2003. 

Only 5,000 bottles of the Caroni gin, each at 700ml, will be produced. Bottles are now available for purchase on Engine Gin's website here.
