Suntory's Roku Gin Gives Us A Taste Of Hanami Festival With New Sakura Bloom Edition
Suntory's popular Roku Gin has debuted the first of its limited edition Festival Collection, which endeavours to bring gin lovers through various seasonal festivities.
The first of the series is the Roku Sakura Bloom Edition Gin, which is inspired by the annual Hanami Festival in Japan where Sakura cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
The limited edition gin is described as having a "soft and elegant floral taste" like that of a Sakura flower, accented by hints of saltiness from the blossom leaves. As you might guess, the Sakura flower is one of the key ingredients used for the gin, amalgamated by Roku's traditional six Japanese botanicals.
The Roku Festival Collection hopes to also encapsulate the idea of Shun which is to capture the peak of nature's seasons. Thus the Roku Sakura Bloom Edition is said to possess a brightness and freshness as a result of the botanicals used having been harvested at the peak of their vibrancy.
The new Roku Sakura Bloom Edition Gin is bottled at 43% ABV and has begun retailing in UK's Tesco supermarkets for US$42. It will eventually be rolled out to Waitrose and Sainsbury's from March 2024.
