Wine in a Can? Yes We Can! Vinette from South Africa drops in Singapore

In a world where wine lovers have become accustomed to the familiar clink of glass bottles, a new trend has emerged that's turning heads and raising eyebrows. Welcome to the age of canned wine, a quirky, convenient and even sustainable way to enjoy your favourite vino. While it may sound a tad unconventional, canned wine has been winning over consumers with its many advantages. Starting with the fact that a date at home could still proceed smoothly even if we can't locate the cockscrew.

Canned wine isn't new, but has gained significant popularity in the United States in the past couple of years just as wine companies began finding new occasions to enjoy wine conveniently. The popularity can be of course be attributed to its convenience, sustainability, and affordability. It's lighter, chills faster than traditional glass bottles, and is generally cheaper. This makes casual, unpretentious enjoyment a cold glass of vino a breeze, especially on the go or at outdoor events like raves or picnics.

Vinette, an award-winning South African canned wine brand has made waves across the region and is now available in Singapore - offering a fresh twist to the local wine scene.

Vinette's signature collection features five distinct varieties: a crisp Rosé, an easy-drinking Chenin Blanc with peach, lime, and sweet lychee flavors, a full-bodied Chardonnay with a soft buttery undertone and apples, papaya and pineapple, a Merlot boasting aromas of sweet mulberry and spice and a Sweet Sparkle Wine with fresh tropical fruit, honey, and muscat aromas.

Vinette's quality has not gone unnoticed, as it has been awarded the Gold Medal by the world-renowned Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge. At the USA Wine Ratings, Vinette's Rosé, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay were awarded a Gold Award and two Silver Awards respectively.

As alluded, Vinette's canned wines come in a more sustainable packaging, with experts noting that switching to aluminium reduces carbon emissions by up to 80%. Furthermore, the aluminum can design protects the wine from light and air exposures, extending its shelf life.

Based on initial observations, Vinette's Chardonnay and Rosé have been particularly well-received amongst Asian wine enthusiasts. The light, portable packaging is ideal for those on the move or planning an outdoor picnic. Additionally, Vinette wines offer a great option for those who want to enjoy a glass at home without the commitment to an entire bottle.

Vinette canned wines are now available for purchase at retailer uMart's stores around the island, as well as through uMart's e-commerce store. This comes at S$12 for a 250ml can and S$22.50 for any two cans.
