Founded by Backdoor Bodega's owner and bartender Koh Yung Shen, Penang Cocktail Week started in 2023 as a cocktail festival to celebrate and elevate the small but thriving cocktail scene within Penang.
Running from 1st to 8th September, the week-long festival features over 80 bartenders from 17 different cities, hosting parties, "bar banters", guest shifts, masterclasses and more.
What's Up?
There are a few events taking place within Penang Cocktail Week 2024. The Malaysian Takeover 2024 sees bartenders from all around Malaysia hosting guest shifts within Penang's bars; PCW 2024 Bar Banters are industry talks featuring bar owners and industry veterans; PCW 2024's first ever Taiwan Takeover sees bartenders from Taiwan hosting bar takeovers.

PCW 2024 takes to the sea with a party yacht featuring guest bartender shifts by Employees Only Singapore and Epic Bar Shanghai, sailing around Georgetown and through the Penang Bridge.
To wrap up the event, The Cocktail Garden on the 8th of September makes a return at the Hin Bus Depot, featuring 14 cocktail booths from the Penang home team as well as guest bartenders from the Taiwan Takeover.
