Barbancourt Ups The Ante With New 55% Haitian Proof Rum

Haiti's Rhum Barbancourt is famous for its Cognac-influenced rhum agricole - rum produced using sugar cane juice rather than the conventional molasses-based rum.

The historic brand is giving its white rhum a refresh, upgrading the 40% ABV expression to 55% ABV instead - calling it "Haitian Proof". The base sugarcane used will remain the same, the famous Madam Mevs hybrid cane.

Official Tasting Note

Aroma

Intense aromatic richness, with sweet notes of banana, mango and nougat.

Taste

The entry in the mouth is initially sweet, the mid-palate gives way to a pleasant attack with spicy strength.

Finish

Strong, slightly astringent showing great finesse.

The new white expression will be retailed at 35 EUR.
